If soul food is good for the soul, the Millen Gentlemen's Gourmet Dining Club is a healthy bunch.

During a recent trip to Lee's Restaurant in Statesboro, located at 458 West Jones, the group dined on "the very best soul food imaginable." The restaurant offers a selection of eight meats and ten vegetables. One meat, three vegetables, bread and a beverage cost less than $7. Each member swore theirs was the best; some doubled up on the meat selections.

The quality, quantity, preparation and presentation of the food were as good as club members have found, they said. They also state that the service is friendly and efficient, and the décor is simple and functional. The food is served on paper plates and plastic utensils are used, but club members state that once the eating begins, this doesn't matter. Go there for the food; you won't find any better, they say.

Club members give the restaurant their highest rating, five bowls, and say that the fact that it is conveniently located nearby is a bonus.
