Our summer programs are in full swing. We started the summer with a cloverleaf lock-in. We had 18 kids show up and they played all night long!!
Finally, at 5:15 a.m., the last few fell asleep. But, it was a very short lived rest as they have to wake at 6:15 to start packing and cleaning up.
Next, we had our "4-H Extreme." Since the whole event was planned around water games, I knew I would get a little wet, but the kids had only been here about five minutes and looked like I had gone swimming in my clothes! I was drenched from head to toe. But, revenge came when Mrs. Elaine found some big water guns in the closet!!
They had water relay races, water balloon fights, team building activities, and our own version of 4-H Fear Factor.
Mr. Wade grilled hamburgers for us and we had an afternoon cookout to go with it. I don't think a soul went home without a huge, soaking wet smile, including Mrs. Elaine and me.
Last week, Mrs. Elaine took several kids around the world to Spain during her cooking class called "Crazy Cuisine."
Thursday, we went to Magnolia Springs for a "Fishing Rodeo."
Poles and bait were generously provided by the park. We had 15 kids show up to fish. Some of them caught quite a few and some didn't have such luck. But all had a blast. After they finished fishing, we grilled hotdogs and played. I don't think anyone was ready to head back.
This week we will be making pillowcases and luggage tags for those who are going to camp, plus any others who want to join. On Thursday, we are taking a bus load to the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, S.C. for a walk on the wild side!
We look forward to seeing you at our next event! Hope you're having a great summer!
