'High School Musical' to be performed July 14

Live theater will come to Millen 7 p.m. July 14 with the performance of "High School Musical" at the Pal Theatre on Cotton Avenue.

Produced and directed by Tony Phillips of Statesboro, who brought "The Sound of Music" to Millen in March, the performance has a cast of 75. Performances are scheduled for Millen and Statesboro only. The Millen production is courtesy of Millen Better Hometown and Millen/ Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce.

Tickets are $10 each and are available at the chamber office on Cotton Avenue. Special rates are available for groups of 10 or more.

Since its premiere Jan. 20, 2006 on Disney Channel, "High School Musical" has been televised 13 times and has been seen by over 37 million unduplicated total viewers. By the end of the year, it will have been televised in 100 countries worldwide.

The soundtrack is the #1 topselling album of the year-todate.

The "High School Musical" release on DVD has sold over 2.3 million copies since its re- lease May 23 and is the best-selling T.V. movie on DVD of all time.

A junior novel based on the movie soared to #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, children's paperbacks, and a folio of sheet music for guitar, piano and vocals is a top seller.
