In memory of my daddy, Grady Burke

I wanted so, to take your pain,
And leave it all behind…
To be your strength, when you were weak
To place your hand in mine
To lift you up, when you were down,
To comfort you each day…
But, as I watched you fight to live,
I knew you could not stay.
Still your memory shines so bright,
Your love lives on in me…
Your spirit soars the highest heights,
Your soul is finally free.
My "knight in shining armor,"
That's what you are to me…
I'll not forget the many times
You gave so graciously.
I know we'll meet again one day,
Where pain no more shall be.
Where dads and daughters reunite
Forever, you and me.
