The Chatter Box I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of Rhonda Gainey and Brian Fields at the Botanical Gardens in Statesboro on Saturday. It was a beautiful setting and a beautiful ceremony. The bride was lovely, the groom very handsome and the rain held off - until after the ceremony. Brian has been a frequent visitor to my home through the years as a friend of my sons, and it was nice for us to share his wedding day. This was my first visit to the Botanical Gardens, and I was pleasantly surprised. The setting was very rustic, not your "modern garden" scene, and worth a visit if you have not been. Good luck and best wishes to the newlyweds! ****** I will be so glad when September gets here for more reasons than one - cooler weather and, hopefully, no more re-runs on the television. It is just about impossible to find something to watch during the summer that you have not seen a thousand times before. I really like "Jaws," "Bonanza", "Gunsmoke," "Little House on the Prairie" and "Pretty Woman," but when you turn on the set to find these airing almost every night, I just want to throw the movie reels to the shark! If we must watch reruns, the networks should air something different. At this point, I would settle for anything that has not aired in the past five years! And whose bright idea was the recent trend to air reruns during the middle of the season? We get to see a few new episodes of a series, and then they hit us with weeks of reruns before another new episode airs. During the meantime, I have forgotten whatever has taken place! With the availability of so many channels through cable and satellites, you would think that there would be something new to watch every night of the week. No such luck! It is reruns or go to bed early, and the bed looks real good when compared to another showing of "The Terminator." ****** Happy birthday this week to: Dale Reeves, Hunter Hall, David Gay, Cindy McBride, Amee Joiner, Rick Lineberry, Geneva Murray, Carol Hoy, Richard Lane, Joey McBride and Glen Wilkerson. ******
