BOE approves coaching supplements, guidelines

The Jenkins County Board of Education (BOE) approved during its Monday, July 16, meeting guidelines for the establishment of coaching supplements based upon years of experience and gender equity. Charley Waters, athletic director, presented the new guidelines for consideration by the BOE.

Coaching supplements for the 2007-2008 school year for Jenkins County High School (JCHS) and Jenkins County Middle School (JCMS) were approved in the amount of $74,775. This was $2,225 less than the $77,000 approved for the previous school year.

Supplements and coaches were approved as follows.

• Football: Chuck Conley, head coach, $12,000; Wyndell Clark, asst. football defensive coordinator, $3,650; Charley Waters, assistant, $3,400; Chuck Sanders, assistant, $3,200; John Hodges, assistant, $3,000; Quinton Sweet, assistant, $3,000; and Jason Boynton, community coach, $1,000.

• Softball: Linda Sanders, head coach, $2,750; Bill Smith, community coach, $900; Jennifer Brinson, assistant/head J.V. coach, $1,000; and Krystal Chance, community coach, $750.

• Cross country: Bobby James, head coach, $1,250; and Jimmy Brannen, assistant, $500.

• Competition cheerleading: Kimberly McMillan, head, $1,000; Melissa Cobb, assistant, $1,000;

Sanders, head coach, $1,000.
