Willie Mae Maltby, 83, of Mississippi died July 28 Mrs. Willie Mae Lewis Maltby, LPN, 83, of Florence, Miss. passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007 at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, Miss. Her funeral was held 2 p.m. Monday, July 30, in the funeral chapel of Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Mrs. Maltby was raised in Crystal Springs, Miss. and lived in Star, Miss., Moss Point, Miss., Millen, Hermanville, Miss. and, the last four years, in Florence. At the age of 56, she earned a licensed practical nurse degree, and she worked in hospitals and nursing homes. Willie Mae was a member of First Baptist Church of Florence. She was a great Christian lady and passed her legacy to her family. Her husbands, J.C. Lewis and Thomas Maltby; son Shelton Lewis; and daughters, Sandra L. Freeman and Kathy Lewis, preceded her in death. Survivors include Jimmy (Jeraldine) Lewis of Star, Richard (Margie) Lewis of Hattiesburg, Miss., Robert (Susie) Lewis of Hurley, Miss. and Steve (Deanna) Lewis of Sharpsburg; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
