Domestic dispute ends in death
By Deborah Bennett Millen News Editor

An apparent domestic dispute ended with the death of a Millen man Saturday, Aug. 4.

On Monday, agent Chuck Sullenger of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (G.B.I.) confirmed that William Clarence Hurt, 48, was killed by his wife, Jill Marie Clayton, 32, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Saturday at their 3311 Floyd Road residence.

"The case is being investigated as a homicide but has not been ruled a murder," Sullenger commented.

He further explained that "homicide" was a "manner of death" and not illegal in the state of Georgia.

"When someone dies at the hands of another, it is homicide," Sullenger said. "Homicide is not something that you charge someone with in court."

Agent Sullenger noted that it would not be appropriate for him to comment further on the case, including the manner of death, since his agency's investigation of the incident remains ongoing.
