Qualifying begins Monday for city election

Qualifying as a candidate in the Municipal General Election for the City of Millen to be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, begins next week.

Candidates desiring to qualify for this election may do so at the office of the Jenkins County Probate Judge in the Jenkins County Courthouse beginning 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, and continuing through 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31.

Seats up for election are: Mayor, to succeed King Rocker; Council Member Ward #1, to succeed Lee Ward Williams; and Council Member Ward #2, to succeed Darrel Clifton.

The qualifying fee for the position of Mayor is $108, and $45 for each council post.

All citizens registered to vote in the City of Millen as of Monday, Oct. 9, are eligible to vote in this election.
