I was traveling to Burke County last week and was delighted to find that the north and south bound lanes of the divided highway (Savannah River Parkway) between Waynesboro and Millen are now open to traffic at least part of the way. It sure makes traveling on U.S. Highway 25 in that direction a lot more pleasurable.

Let's hope something soon begins to happen with the uncompleted section between Millen and Statesboro.

Our community was deeply sadden and shocked by the death of Kasey Lane last week in a tragic farming accident. My heartfelt condolences are sent to his family and friends. Kasey was known as a hard working young man, and he will be missed by many.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the upcoming Fair-on-the-Square, Saturday, Oct. 6. It promises to be another fun-filled day with plenty of food, entertainment, arts and crafts.
