The Jenkins County High School Eagles football team met Telfair County this past Friday night at home. With the sky threatening rain, the team took the field and immediately went to work on the visiting team.
The Eagle offense was running on all cylinders racking up 294 yards. Quarterback Houston Bowers went 3-6 in passing.
Patrick Moody led the offense in rushing with 126 yards on the ground. Dontavious Young also rushed for 85 yards and Quentin Jenkins added 27 yards. Caleb Chance went 3 for 4 on extra point attempts. The Special Teams play helped in the contest as Dontavious Young and Spencer Clark both had an interception. Patrick Milner added a blocked punt as well as a fumble recovery.
The Eagle defense played tough holding Telfair to only 110 rushing yards and 122 passing yards. Leading the Eagle defense in tackles was Boyd Sasser with 9, Zac Clark with 7 and both Spencer Clark and Dontavious Young had 6.
This week the Eagles take their 2-1 record against Schley County at home in the Eagle Nest.
Last week, the JV Eagles knocked off E.C. I. on the road. In a rain shortened game that only went to the end of the first half, the young Eagles put up 20 points while shutting out the home team. The JV team is now 2-0. This week they will meet the Claxton Tigers in Claxton.
The Middle School Eagles will face Claxton Thursday at home. Please come out and show your support to all our Eagle teams.
