JCHS cheerleader chosen as All-Star

Jenkins County High School (JCHS) senior/varsity cheerleader Lindsey Heron recently competed, along with other JCHS cheerleaders, for a coveted spot on the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) National All-Star team.
Independent judges from the UCA traveled to Jenkins County for the auditions on June 27. They judged the girls on a cheer and dance routine that they performed. Out of all the cheerleaders who auditioned, only two from Jenkins County were chosen. Heron was one of those two.
With the prestigious honor of being selected as a UCA All-Star, Heron will have the opportunity to travel, along with other girls from all over the United States, to London, England this winter.
She will fly out of Atlanta on Wednesday, Dec. 26, headed for London. Upon arrival, she and the rest of the national team will unite and do some sightseeing. Then, for the next few days, they will practice and perfect their routine that they will perform at the Varsity Spirit Parade in London on New Year's Day. Heron will return to Millen Jan. 2.
As she travels to England to represent the JCHS cheerleading squad, Heron will represent the community, as well. She has worked very hard to earn this opportunity, but she needs a little help to make it a reality. The cost of the trip is around $2,500. This includes airfare, lodging, her cheerleading costumes and some meals.
A savings account has been set up in her name, for this trip, at Regions Bank in Millen. If you would like to make a donation toward her trip, please mail or take donations to Regions Bank. Checks should be made payable to "Lindsey Heron London trip."
Heron will graduate from JCHS in the spring of 2008. She plans to further her education and pursue a career in the U.S. Marine Corps.
