Fair slated for Oct. 6
      The annual Fair-on-the- Square will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, and end at 5 p.m. There will be a variety of crafts and other items for purchase, as well as baked goods and other foods. Rides and games for the children will be on hand all day.

Local health department to conduct Flu Drill
      The East Central Health District and the Jenkins County Health Department will conduct a mass immunization drill Oct. 2-4. The purpose of the drill is to test the organizations' capacity to provide mass immunizations in the event of a biological disaster.

      Mabel Jenkins, a member of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Board and committee member of the Georgia State Parks and Recreation, announced last week that Magnolia Springs State Park will be receiving funds for the construction of two additional cabins at the park.
