Fair slated for Oct. 6 The annual Fair-on-the- Square will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, and end at 5 p.m. There will be a variety of crafts and other items for purchase, as well as baked goods and other foods. Rides and games for the children will be on hand all day. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to participate in the parade should call Cindy Linder at (478) 982- 3274. Entertainment will begin at 11 a.m. and continue into the afternoon with local talents Kay Miller School of Dance, Ashley Brinson and Will Gay. Former resident Leroy Clayton will be on hand with a group known as the "Shade Tree Pickers," which includes several local people, as well as Herb and Sue Ann Riechelt. Other performers will be the "Train Wreck" band and musician Glen Walden. From noon until 4 p.m., the Azalea Garden Club is sponsoring a flower show in the Jenkins County Memorial Library. The theme of the show is "The Spirit of October," and it is open to the public. The Fair-on-the-Square is sponsored by the Millen Better Hometown.
