A community-wide "Prayer Meeting for Jobs" is being planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Olde Pal Civic Theater on Cotton Avenue. The Rev. Dan Zellner is in charge of coordinating the event. Additional details will be forthcoming as plans are finalized.

This is a wonderful way of showing support for all of our citizens who have lost their jobs over the past year and to seek divine guidance for the future of this community. Too often we think of prayer as the "least" we can do in a situation when in reality, it is the "most" important thing we can do.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend.

The annual Fair-on-the-Square is set for Saturday on the courthouse lawn. This is always a fun event with lots of arts, crafts and food booths as well as entertainment planned throughout the day. Activities get underway at 9 a.m. with the parade scheduled for 10 a.m. Don't miss the fun!

I am attempting to revive our "Taste of Jenkins" recipe column that ran for several years in the past. If you know of anyone who would be willing to have their photo taken and share a few recipes, please contact me.

The column went over well for a while but then "fizzled" out due to a lack of willing participants. Hopefully, we will be able to keep it going this time.
