4-H News
Anna Burgess County Extension Agent

The last few weeks have been non stop up here. We've had parents come in and just stand there wondering if we are actually getting anything done. And the answer is YES! It has been organized chaos while working on these mini booths. But, it was well worth it seeing how we have managed to finish over 100 booths this year!! I was excited last year because I thought 80 was a huge number but we have far surpassed last year's quota.

PARENTS: If your child has completed a mini-booth, it is imperative that you set it up at the fair on October 5th from 3 to 5 or on Oct. 6 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. In the letter we sent home, we explained everything. If you have not received this letter, please let us know. We will offer a reward trip to the fair on Oct. 10 for those who completed and set up their booths. If you do not set up your child's booth at the fair, he/she will not be able to attend the reward trip. Set up is very easy and will only take a minute of your time. All you have to do is staple the posters up and then put the floor material in place. All booths should have floor material- visual aids which sit in the bottom of your project.

The Sigma Lambda Chi has been "flocking" the neighborhoods. We owe a special thank you to all of those who participated. All of the money raised from the flamingo flocking will go towards any expenses the group will incur while serving our community.

The 4-H also owes a massive 'Thank You' to Dennis Jenkins for allowing us to serve food and refreshments at the concession stand during the grand opening of Oliver's General Country Store. Dennis and Tonya went above and beyond what we expected to make sure we were able to have a successful yet fun event. I also want to thank our 4-H'ers who participated. I am very proud of the way they worked that day. We actually had many more show up ready and willing to work than needed. They arrived at 9:00 am and didn't leave until after 5:00 pm, giving up their whole day to see this club be successful. And that is the reason Jenkins County 4- H is so strong. Not only were kids working hard, but I will never get in the way of Mrs. Lisa Dailey when she's ready to work. She is probably one of the hardest working women I've ever met and her whole family is a great asset to Jenkins 4-H.

We have our Halloween Dance coming up soon and don't forget to continue to collect poptabs.
