Register to vote by Oct. 9
In city election
By Deborah Bennett Millen News Editor

Tuesday, Oct. 9, is the last day to register to vote in the Municipal General Election for the City of Millen to be held Tuesday, Nov. 6. City residents who are not already registered to vote may do so in the office of the Jenkins County Registrar at the Jenkins County Courthouse.

The only contested seat in the election is for the position of mayor. Incumbent King Rocker is opposed by Bobby Anthony.

Councilman Lee Ward Williams, Ward #1, is unopposed in his bid for re-election as is Darrel Clifton, Ward #2, and both will appear on the ballot.

Absentee ballots for this election are available in the registrar's office, and advance voting will take place Monday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 2. During this time, absentee ballots may be voted without having to state a reason.

For additional information on registering to vote, voting an absentee ballot or advance voting, contact the Jenkins County Registrar's office or Jenkins County Election Superintendent Wanda Burke.
