Obituaries Shirley Lee Waters, 72, of Sylvania died Sept. 29

Mrs. Shirley Lee Waters, 72, of Sylvania died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.

Her funeral was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Thompson Strickland-Waters Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Paul Moore and James Barnes officiating. Burial was at the Screven County Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Waters was a native of Chatham County. She was a retired sales clerk and a member of McDonald Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, H. Lavaughn Waters of Sylvania; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Robert Bettis of Sylvania; sons and daughters-in-law, Andy and Janet Waters, Timothy Waters and Bobby and Wanda Williams, all of Sylvania, Michael Waters of Statesboro and Ronald and Wendy Waters of Millen; two sisters, Carolyn Reeves of Fayetteville, N.C. and Iris Lambert of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Thomas Hughes, Gary Miller, Bert Fries, Mike Thompson, Lonnie Gleaton and Jerry Bowers.

Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home of Sylvania was in charge of all arrangements.
