Local students honored by scholarship program
      Jenkins County High School was recently notified that the National Achievement Scholarship Program recognized two seniors nationally. Dee Dee Davis and Keeley Sapp participated in the PSAT last year and scored in the top 5 percent of more than 140,000 black Americans who tested nationwide.

      The Jenkins County High School Eagles were bitten by the Claxton Tigers 14-0 this past Friday night. The loss on the road brings the team record to 2 wins and 4 losses. This week, the Eagles face Savannah Country Day at home Friday night.

Cheerleaders selected for high school's competitive squad
      Jenkins County High School (JCHS) recently announced the 2007 Competitive Cheerleading Squad. The Competitive Cheerleading Squad will represent Jenkins County in four competitions during the season, including a region competition.

Students learn fire safety
      Students at Head Start recently enjoyed a fire safety program presented by Robert Reeves Jr. of the Millen Fire Department. The students viewed a film and got a close up look at a fire engine.

Eagle Academy students work on mini-booths
      The Jenkins County Middle School Eagle Academy students have been working on projects for 4-H mini-booths which will be displayed and judged at the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair in Statesboro, Oct. 8-13.
