Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,

I am really, really glad, and most fortunate, that it did not take the city officials of Millen as long to take over, when I called to tell them that we had a hole in the side of our house, as it has taken me to express my gratitude publicly. I feel that the citizens of Millen need to know that they "are in good hands."

The hole was put there by the people working on the sewers in our street, using the backhoe in our driveway.

Within minutes after my call, two people were at our door to check the situation. I wish with all my heart that I could remember their names, because they were so kind and reassuring.

They looked things over and promised me that I did not need to worry, that everything would be fixed as soon as possible. And everything was. With no effort or expense on our part, the side of the house was repaired and painted. The inside wall was repaired and the room painted. We were, indeed, "in good hands."

The names I recall as being involved are Bubba Small, Wesley Parker and Al Knight. There were others, and I apologize for not being able to acknowledge them.

Sincerely, Barbara Pike
