Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour before you retire Saturday, Nov. 3, as Daylight Saving Time (DST) ends 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4

The main reason we used DST is that it saves energy. The demand for electricity is directly connected to when we go to bed and when we get up. By moving the clock ahead one hour in the spring we cut the amount of electricity we use each day. Studies done in the 1970s by the U.S. Department of Transportation showed that we trim the entire country's electricity usage by about one percent each day with DST.

The change of time this weekend also means that we get to sleep an hour longer on Sunday morning. I like the sound of that!
