By Deborah Bennett Millen News Editor

Millen residents will go to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 6, to cast their votes in the City of Millen Municipal Election to name a mayor and two councilmen.

The only contested race in the election is for the seat of Mayor. Incumbent King Rocker faces opposition from former councilman Bobby Anthony.

Council member Lee Ward Williams, Ward #1, is unopposed in his bid for re-election as is council member Darrel Clifton, Ward #2. Both names will appear on the ballot, however.

Absentee ballots for this election are available in the registrar's office, and advance voting will take place through Friday, Nov. 2. During this time, absentee ballots may be voted without having to state reason. Anyone who was registered to vote as of Oct. 9 is eligible to vote in this election.

Residents casting their votes in-person on election day, voting absentee in-person or utilizing advance voting will be required to show one of the following forms of photo ID: a Georgia's driver's license, even if expired; any valid state or federal government issued photo ID, including a free voter ID card issued by the county registrar or Georgia Department of Driver Services; valid U.S. passport; valid employee ID from any branch, department, agency or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state; valid U.S. military photo ID; or valid tribal photo ID.

Anyone who does have one of these forms of identification can receive a free Georgia Voter Identification Card at the Jenkins Board

Registrars office in the Jenkins County Courthouse. An ID may also be obtained from the Georgia Department of Driver Services 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at 202 Randy Lowery Road, Statesboro. Voters who choose to vote absentee ballot by mail do not need a photo ID.
