Millen Milers and More selects officers

Millen Milers and More selected a new slate of officers and entertained members of the Jenkins County High School Cross Country team at the same time.

The meeting, held in the Youth House of Millen Baptist Church, began with "Show- down," a film that showed the background and training of five top runners as they prepared for the 2007 U.S. Cross Country National Championship in Boulder, Colo. Sandwiches, drinks and still-warm chocolate brownies provided needed nourishment during the showing.

After the movie, club members selected Ray Miller to serve as president and Toby Davis, a resident of Brooklet and crosscountry coach at Southeast Bulloch High, as vice president/ secretary. Joyce Hodges-Hite will continue as treasurer.

Members then continued discussion on the upcoming Eleventh Annual Cross Country 4.8 Mile Race, scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Magnolia Springs State Park. Topics included T-shirt design and the program honoring veterans to take place just prior to the awards ceremony. The club is asking all veterans who are able to come to the park for the ceremonies scheduled to begin around 10:15 a.m. More details will be in next week's The Millen News.
