Christmas Bazaar

A Christmas Bazaar will be held 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in the fellowship hall of Millen Baptist Church. Christmas gifts and food items, as well as a soupand sandwich lunch, will be available for a reasonable donation to the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Veteran's Day

observance

The Jenkins County Middle School will be celebrating its annual Veterans' Day observance Monday, Nov. 12. This event is scheduled to take place from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Jenkins County High School football field. In addition to guest speakers and special guests, there will be special performances by the Jenkins County Middle School Chorus, the Drama Club, the J.R.O.T.C and the Color Guard. The marching band will play "Taps."

Everyone in Millen and Jenkins County is invited to attend, in support of local veterans.

JCHS Class of '96

Reunion

The Jenkins County High School Class of 1996 Reunion will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Coleman's Lake Restaurant, Midville. Everyone will be responsible for paying for his or her buffet meal that night.

Retired Educators

to meet

The Jenkins County unit of the Georgia Retired Educators Association (GREA) will meet Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. State Rep. Jon Burns will be the guest.

Following the meeting, attendees will be guests of the Jenkins County Board of Education and School Food Services at a traditional Thanksgiving dinner in the school lunchroom.

All members are encouraged and expected to attend.

Local Garden Club

celebrates

Anniversary

Green Thumb Garden Club of Millen will hold their 50th anniversary celebration 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in the parlor of Millen United Methodist Church.

Club members invite all past and present members to join them in celebrating this special occasion. Refreshments will be served.

K.C. Childers Award

Banquet

Millen Masonic District No. 16 will celebrate the annual K.C. Childers Award Banquet 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Senior Citizens Center, 998 E. College Ave.

The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Willie C. Scott of Dalton Missionary Baptist Church in Sylvania. Mayor King Rocker of the City of Millen, James Henry of the Jenkins County Board of Commissioners and Irene Drummer of the Jenkins County Board of Education will bring greetings from their respective groups.

Energy Assistance

Program

The Energy Assistance Program is accepting applications to pay home heating costs for elderly (65 years of age and older) households 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 and Friday, Nov. 9, at the Jenkins County Senior Citizens Center. If funds are available, the program will be opened to the general public Monday, Dec. 3.
