Rotary Governor Dick Hyer was the guest speaker at the Wednesday, Nov. 14, meeting of the Millen Rotary Club. Hyer updated the club on things happening with Rotary around the world and at home.
He spoke on the importance of the Rotary Foundation, the backbone of Rotary. The Foundation is where the money is accumulated to do all the good things that Rotary does around the world. For example, Rotary is committed to achieving the goals of eradicating polio around the world through the completion of the PolioPlus program; emphasizing and strengthening educational and cultural programs which enhance goodwill and understanding; making grants that fulfill humanitarian needs in all areas of the world; and expanding programs intended to strengthen peaceful relations among people.
