4-H News
By Anna Burgess County Extension Agent

Now that the Thanksgiving rush is over, it's time to start with Christmas plans! We have several things going on right now and it can get sort of confusing, so here is the breakdown of events:

Canned food drive: The 5thgrade homeroom classes are in competition to see who can collect the most canned goods for the food pantry at the Family Enrichment Center. So far, Mrs. Oliver and Mrs. Harris' classes are in the lead! However, it's not too late for the others to catch up. This Friday is the last day to bring in your goods. The homeroom who collects the most items will win a pizza party!!

Middle School: Active 4- H'ers in the 6th thru 8th grades will have a meeting at the 4-H office on Tuesday, December 4 from 3:30 to 5:00. The officers will conduct the meeting. They are going to be teaching 4-H songs, skits, and planning upcoming activities. If you're an active 4-H'er, or want to become one, you don't want to miss this meeting!

High School: There will be an after-school meeting for high school students on December 5 from 3:30- 5:00. We will be discussing a date for our Christmas activities, Sigma Lambda Chi, and DPA. All senior 4-H'ers need to come to this meeting, especially Sigma members.

Jr/Sr Christmas Party: All Jr/Sr DPA participants are invited to the Christmas party on December 6 from 6:00 -8:30. We will do a community service project, work on portfolios, and have a Chinese auction. Only those who bring a small gift can participate in the Chinese auction.

Cloverleaf Christmas party: All 5th & 6th grade students are invited! On December 11 from 3:30 to 5:00, we will be making Christmas ornaments, cards, and playing a few fun games.

Parents: I have been informed that several parents would like to know more about 4-H and our upcoming activities through a parent newsletter. This newsletter will be sent out through email. If you are interested in receiving it, please email me at alb123@uga.edu and I will add you to the list!

Please don't forget to put these dates on your calendar. If you have any questions, feel free to call the 4-H Office (982- 4408) anytime.
