Jim Andrew of Millen/Washington D.C., recently met with a group of locals to discuss possible means to aid the county and city in moving forward since the loss of jobs in the past year. Approximately 30 folks were in attendance.
From this meeting a Task Force was formed. The first meeting of the Economic Task Force was held on Thursday, Nov. 29, with 23 in attendance.
The format for this meeting was to "brain storm" ideas for the committee and to plan the course. The ideas were listed on a flip chart and discussed and were labeled as long term or short term. At the next meeting, the task force will work on beginning the shortterm ideas and start to identify needs to accomplish the long-term ideas.
Members were honored to have Dr. Benjy Thompson attend the meeting and thanked him for allowing them to tap in on his extensive knowledge of economic development.
The next meeting will be held 7 p.m. Dec. 6, at the city hall.
The public is invited to attend.
