Memorial Tree Lighting Ceremony

The annual lighting ceremony of the Memorial Tree on Cotton Avenue will be held 5:30 p.m. this Friday prior to Christmas in Millen activities.

Tree lights and Star lights can be purchased at the Millen/Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce office. Tree lights are $15, and Star lights are $25. The deadline for purchasing lights in memory or in honor of loved ones is Wednesday, Dec. 5. Proceeds will be used to fund a scholarship to help a Jenkins County student further his/her education.

Christmas in Millen

Christmas in Millen, sponsored by the Millen/Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce and Millen Better Hometown, will take place 6-8 p.m. this Friday on Cotton Avenue.

Numerous activities have been planned, including a visit from Santa, with many businesses offering special sales promotions during these hours.

No dogs, skateboards or bicycles will be allowed at the event.

Christmas Decorations Contest

The annual Christmas decorations contest, sponsored by the Millen Garden Club Council, will be held Monday, Dec. 10.

Judging will begin at 6 p.m. and continue through 10 p.m. Lights must be on during this time period. Judging will be done from the street or driveway. Ribbons will be awarded to first, second, third and fourth places.
