The Jenkins County Board of Education has opened the parent portal to PowerSchool. This portal allows parents and students to access their student's academic information with a secure login and password via the Internet.

An informational meeting for high school parents was held Thursday, Nov. 30, in the Jenkins County High School (JCHS) cafeteria.

Lisa Burke, mother of JCHS senior Jacob Burke and Jenkins County Middle School (JCMS) student Sara Burke, commented, "PowerSchool is a great tool for parents. Now we can know how our kids are performing in the classroom at all times. We don't have to wait for progress reports and report cards."

Tenth grader Rachel Welch said, "We can check our course grade after each test and assignment. I no longer have to guess what I made on an assignment. I know that I will probably check my grades every time I have access to a computer."

Parents who were unable to attend the meeting may see Glynda Johnson, high school registrar, for login and password information. Because of the secure nature of this information, parents will need to make arrangements to stop in and pick up the information from Mrs. Johnson.

Jenkins County Elementary School parents received the same information and introduction to the portal in the elementary school cafeteria on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

JCMS parents will be introduced to the portal 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in the school media center. Login and password information will be given to parents in attendance.

If you are unable to attend the parent meeting at the your child's school please stop by the office and request the password information.
