JROTC Raiders finish season at state The Jenkins County High School Army JROTC Raider Teams finished their first season Saturday Nov. 17, and Sunday, Nov. 18 at Thunder Scout Boy Scout Reservation in Molena. The all male team finished eleventh overall of 23 teams entered. Of the 10 schools finishing ahead of the Jenkins County team, only one school, Elbert County, was not an AAAA or AAAAA school. The high point for the all-male team was a seventh place finish on the rope-bridge event, 1.09 minutes from first place. The team also finished eighth overall on the one-mile obstacle course, 2 minutes from first place. The male-mixed team consisting of six males and four females finished tenth of 16 teams entered. Richmond Hill High School from the Savannah area was the only non-AAAA/ AAAAA high school in this group. Jenkins County was the only Class A school from any category competing in the State Championships. The high mark for the Raider Male-Mixed Team was a fifth place finish on the one mile obstacle course, three minutes and thirty-four seconds from the first place team. Brianna Joiner was one of four cadets selected from over 400 competitors to receive a special "Spirit" award. All things considered, the Jenkins County War Eagle Teams turned heads and sent a message to the big guys. Watch out next year, the War Eagles are on the hunt!
