City administrator resigns, consultant approved to serve
By Deborah Bennett Millen News Editor

In less than a week, Millen City Council has accepted the resignation of City Administrator Al Knight and contracted with Roland Stubbs Jr., through Consulting, Inc., to serve as interim administrator.

During a called meeting held Wednesday, Dec. 5, council accepted Knight's letter of resignation, which Mayor King Rocker said cited "personal reasons" as the cause for relinquishing the position he has held since September 2002.

At a called meeting held Monday, Dec. 10, council approved a contract with Stubbs to serve as Interim Administrator. He had previously served as Sylvania's city administrator, an interim city manager in Bulloch County and presently serves as a Screven County Commissioner.

Since Knight was also serving as acting police chief, pending the employment of a Department of Public Safety Director, council appointed officer Keith Taylor of the Millen Police Department to serve in that capacity.

The Millen News has been unable to contact Knight concerning his resignation.
