JCMS announces spelling bee results

Justice Deloach, 6th grade Spelling Bee champion
The Jenkins County Middle School (JCMS) Spelling Bee was held on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Academic Boosters Club meeting.

Emily Edenfield became the 2007 JCMS Spelling Bee Champion. This is the third year in a row that Emily has triumphed as the top speller at the middle school. She is in the eighth grade and is the daughter of Tracy and Susan Edenfield of Millen.

The first round of the spell- ing bee took place Nov. 28 in the middle school homerooms as a written competition. The three winning spellers in each grade who advanced on to the second round were as follows: Sixth grade: Byron Williams, Trent Lindsey and Justice DeLoach; Seventh grade: Donnie Gay, Taniqua McNeely and Ronnie Hagen; and Eighth grade: Emily Edenfield, Marc Holley and Chelsea Taylor.

The second round of the spelling bee consisted of the contestants spelling orally in front of a live audience. The winners of the second round were as follows: Sixth grade champion, Justice DeLoach; Seventh grade champion, Taniqua McNeely; and Eighth grade champion, Emily Edenfield.

The third and final round of the spelling bee included the three grade winners, Justice DeLoach, 6th grade, Taniqua McNeely, 7th grade, and Emily Edenfield, 8th grade.
