JCHS Eagles are 1-2 in region

The Jenkins County High School Eagles' basketball team currently has a 1-2 region record and a 1-5 overall record.

The Eagles won 66-57 over Bryan County Dec. 14. Leading scorers were Tim Patterson, 15 points; Travon London, 9; Levantae Hall and Tyrone Brown, 6 points each; Akeem Young and Houston Bowers, 5; Chris Watson and Devander Smith, 4 points each; and Justin Jeff, 2.

Coach Matt Whitt commented, "This was a good con- fidence builder after a rough start. We got our first win, a home win and region win tonight. With only one player returning from last year's team, we're still trying to find our identity from a young and inexperienced squad. I was glad to see our kids hang tough when Bryan cut the lead to two."

On Dec. 15, the Eagles fell 91-39 to Screven County. Leading scorers were Travon London, 10; Tim Patterson, 7; Chris Watson, 6; Bernard Thompson and Devander Smith, 5; Akeem Young and Levantae Hall, 2.

"After gaining our confidence last night, we lost it in a hurry. Screven had too much firepower for us tonight. We'll see them again this Thursday," commented Coach Whitt.

The Eagles will face Screven County 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, in the Christmas Tournament to be held at Screven County. Then, they will play either Metter or E.C.I. on Friday, Dec. 21, with the time still to be determined.
