Jenkins County Middle School has recognized its students of the month for December. Teachers nominate these students for their academic performance, academic improvement, or display of exemplary behavior and citizenship in the classroom. Not pictured: Patsy Bunch, 8th grade. (Photo contributed) More ... The Jenkins County Middle School Eagle Academy held its first semester Awards Ceremony Tuesday, December 18, 2007. Ms. Wendy Ivey, Eagle Academy teacher, presented certificates to students for highest average and most improved in each subject area as well as Accelerated Reader awards. The students have worked extremely hard during the first semester, and Ms. Ivey wanted to acknowledge their efforts. After the students were recognized before an audience of parents and other visitors, refreshments were served. (Photo contributed) More ... Ms. Dinah Cobb's seventh grade reading classes recently read the novel "Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen. As a performance task in response to reading the novel, students created postcards with a scene from the novel as the picture and wrote a small explanation about the scene on the other side. This activity is linked to the Georgia Performance Standard ELA7R1.c which states students will relate a literary work to information about its setting.
