Ms. Dinah Cobb's seventh grade reading classes recently read the novel "Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen. As a performance task in response to reading the novel, students created postcards with a scene from the novel as the picture and wrote a small explanation about the scene on the other side. This activity is linked to the Georgia Performance Standard ELA7R1.c which states students will relate a literary work to information about its setting. The students used a rubric to self-evaluate their work on this task. Students participating, above, from left, are Willie Emory, Frank Thompson and Jasper Evans, right.
