Lela Stokes Dickens, a veteran Jenkins County teacher and president of the local PAGE chapter, was honored recently by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) for service to education and to her professional association.

In presenting the award, PAGE Executive Director Dr. Allene Magill said, "Through her efforts she has been instrumental in recruiting members, organizing PAGE meetings, disseminating legal and legislative information to members, and securing funding for the Jenkins County PAGE scholarship given annually to a Jenkins County High School graduate."

Dickens was named Outstanding PAGE Member for District One, a 21-county region in Southeast Georgia. She was the recipient of a crystal apple award presented by Dr. Magill. The award presentation took place this summer at the group's annual conference in Atlanta.
