Crews test for contamination


Work crews are shown as they tested the soil for contamination at the old Soc station located on Winthrope Avenue last week. The building on the property was also tested for lead and asbestos. The tests were conducted through an Environmental Protection Agency "Brownfields" grant obtained by the City of Millen. The grant provides financial assistance to applicants to identify and evaluate sites and develop solutions that would rehabilitate the properties. Test results are expected in 4-6 weeks.
