Two arrested for burglary of Oliver's General Store
Floyd Brinson III, 17, of Quinney Road and a 16-yearold juvenile were arrested last week for the Nov. 1 burglary of Oliver's General Store, located on the Millen Bypass.
Both Brinson and the juvenile have been charged with burglary, criminal damage to property-second degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and obstruction. The juvenile was also charged with escape, carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a weapon without a license.
Deputies of the Jenkins County Sheriff's Office responded to an early morning alarm at the business and discovered upon arrival that the front door glass had been destroyed and a gun display cabinet damaged. Further investigation revealed that six handguns were missing.
It was reported to deputies that someone was seen walking along the side of the roadway near the business. Law enforcement made contact with the person described and a later review of the video recorder on the business's security equipment revealed that this person was one of two persons who burglarized the store. The second person was recognized by deputies, and he was arrested at his home without incident.
The juvenile escaped custody after his initial arrest, and was recaptured approximately two hours later. All six handguns were recovered.
The juvenile is currently being held in the regional youth detention center while Brinson is being held in the Jenkins County Jail, pending Jenkins County Superior Court action.
