Optimists celebrate Youth Appreciation Week
REV. C. ANDRICE SCOTT Optimist International's "Youth Appreciation Week" will be observed locally by the Millen Optimist Club on Sunday, Nov. 16, with a "Youth in Religion Celebration." Starting at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Old Waynesboro Road, the Millen club invites youth groups from around the community to showcase their programs and talents.
The featured choir will be the Summerville Baptist Church Youth Choir, and the guest speaker for the celebration will be the Rev. C. Andrice Scott.
Rev. Scott is a native of Toccoa. He is the youngest of three children born to Laura Ann and the late Timothy E. Scott. He graduated from Stephens County High School and attended Mercer University, where he received a bachelor of science in business administration. While at Mercer, he married his wife, Grace, and they have two children, Jasmine Grace and the late Chauncey A. Scott II.
Rev. Scott currently pastors Summerville Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta. He is also employed with the Richmond County school system, where he serves as an exceptional needs teacher, head football coach and athletic director.
JEFFERY GRANT During "Student Recognition Night," which will be held 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at Zion Baptist Church on Old Sylvania Road, area student achievers will be honored. Guest speaker for this program will be Jeffery Grant
Grant is the human resources director at Willstaff Worldwide, Inc. in Statesboro. He is also the founder of Maximum Potential, a consulting company created to empower individuals to maximize the fullness of their potential through workshops, seminars, programs and educational tools. The service provides career coaching to meet the needs
of both working and non-working professionals through career and leadership training, as well as spiritual development. Grant has conducted workshops at various colleges and community organizations throughout the state. He has spoken on topics such as Career Readiness, Leadership Burnout, Leadership Influence, Being a Champion, Setting Goals, Interviewing and Communication Skills. His presentations are both interactive and inspirational, motivating participants to live out their potential in every area of their lives.
Grant earned a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in human resources from Georgia Southern University in the spring of 2003. He currently resides in Statesboro. He is a member of the American Staffing Association and the Society of Human Resource Management, and is a certified staffing professional.
