October was National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer affects many women in the world. People in Jenkins County and Millen are no exception. Several of the faculty and staff of the Jenkins County school system have in the past or are currently experiencing the effects of breast cancer.
In order to honor these em- ployees, the faculty and staff of Jenkins County Middle School (JCMS) staff paid $5 to wear blue jeans for an entire week. The money collected was donated to the American Cancer Society and designated for breast cancer research. Seventeen faculty and staff members paid the $5 whether they wore the jeans or not. A total of $85 was collected.
