JCHS cross country team finishes season
      The Jenkins County High School cross country team finished its season with a third place win at the Region competition for the boys and a fifth place win for the girls. Ten teams competed in the region meet. Participants who finished in the top six at the region meet were eligible to compete individually at the state competition.

      Jenkins County High School (JCHS) hosted a Veteran's Appreciation Ceremony in the new gym Tuesday, Nov. 11, to recognize local veterans and all those that have served/are still serving this nation.

O'Connor signs golf scholarship
      Gregory Austin O'Connor of Edmond North High School has signed an NCAA letter of intent to attend Kennesaw State University north of Atlanta on a golf scholarship. Gregory is a member of the Edmond North Huskies in Edmond, Oklahoma who have won the Oklahoma State 6-A Championship four years in a row.

      The little school that could almost became the little school that would. Saturday, Nov. 8, the Jenkins County High School Army JROTC Raider Team competed in the second annual JROTC "Raider" National Championships held at the Gerald I. Lawhorn Scouting Base (Thunder River Boy Scout Camp), Molena.

STC names presidents', merit list students for summer
      Swainsboro Technical College recently announced their president's and merit lists for summer quarter. To be named to the president's list, students must have successfully completed 12 credit hours or more and have earned a quarterly grade point average of 3.60 or better.

Drummer graduates JSU
      Marcia Drummer, daughter of Mrs. Sue Moore, recently graduated from Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Ala., with a master's of education in educational leadership. Drummer, a graduate of Jenkins County High School, received a bachelor of science in special education from Morris Brown College.

HeadStart tours fire department
      Students at Jenkins County Head Start recently visited the Millen Fire Department where they were allowed to inspect the fire engine and heard a program on fire safety.
