I reported in last week's edition of The Millen News that The Augusta Chronicle would discontinue print copies of its publication in Jenkins County, per information provided to us by The Augusta Chronicle through a letter we received and from speaking with a representative at the newspaper.

However, Danny Clayton, local carrier for The Chronicle, called on Monday morning to report that he had been informed that the newspaper would continue carrier-delivery in the city limits of Millen. Subscribers who live in the city of Millen who have been receiving their newspaper through the mail may change to carrier delivery and still receive a print copy.

Mail and carrier delivery of newspaper in the county is being discontinued, Clayton said. Those subscribers will be able to view The Chronicle online. Also, The Augusta Chronicle will be available in the racks.

Apparently, confusion abounds in this situation, but I am glad print copies of the newspaper will be available in Jenkins County. Not everyone has a computer to view it online.

Activities get underway at 5:30 p.m. with the tree lighting ceremony at the Caboose, and Christmas in Millen and the Business Open House will take place 6-8 p.m.

Hopefully, everyone will support these local activities by attending.
