Magnolia Springs to host festival

History buffs will have an opportunity to step back in time, Saturday, Dec. 6, when Magnolia Springs State Park will host a Heritage Festival at the park. Programs, along with food and craft booths, will be ongoing from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. There is no admission charge, but the usual $3 vehicle pass will be required.
A highlight event will be a living History Encampment with rifle and artillery demonstrations by Buckhead Fort Lawton Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) Camp 2102 and other SCV camps and area re-enactors in period dress and authentic camp setting.
Impressionist Steve Burke, a local resident, will present a Native American Indian program, and a program on Sherman’s March to the Sea will be presented by the SCV group.
Local resident Pat Johnston will conduct a portable saw mill demonstration, and Dora Seales will feature her Country Cookin and Wood burning stove.
Entertainment will be provided by “Living” of Newington with the program featuring bluegrass and southern gospel music. In addition to a variety of food booths, McCray’s Bar-B-Q will be on hand offering their delicious items.
