Attention: All Metal Industry Employees

On Tuesday, Jan. 8, and Wednesday, Jan 9, Metal Industry employees will be able to attend an informational session that will include the filing of unemployment claims. The sessions will be held at the Jenkins County Agriculture Center on Barney Avenue. Employees are scheduled to attend by the first letter of their last name.

The schedule for Tuesday, Jan. 8, is: 9 a.m., A-C; 10:30 a.m., D-F; 1 p.m. G-H; and 2:30 p.m. I-L. The scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 9, is: 9 a.m., M-O; 10:30 a.m. P-R; 1 p.m., S-V; and 2:30 p.m., W-Z.

If you are unable to attend at the assigned time, please check with Leslie or Joel to adjust the schedule.

JCHS Class of 1996 Reunion

Jenkins County High School Class of 1996 will hold a reunion 6 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Coleman's Lake Restaurant in Midville. Everyone will pay for his or her buffet meal that night. Free Legal Help

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will be in Jenkins County to meet with senior citizens wanting free legal help on a first-come, first-serve basis. Senior Citizens, 60 years of age or older who have a civil, non-criminal legal issue may be able to obtain help. A GLSP staff member will be in Jenkins County 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at the Jenkins County Senior Citizens Center, 998 College Ave.

The GLSP office that serves Jenkins County is located at 209 Seventh St., Suite 400, Augusta. The office can be reached at 1(800) 248-6697.

GED testing

The GED examination will be given at Swainsboro Technical College Monday, Jan. 14, and Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Required registration will be held at 9 a.m. in building number 8, and at 6 p.m. in building number one, room 1109, on Monday, Jan 7. Picture identification and social security card must be presented, and the $95 test fee is due at registration.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. If applicants are 18 or 19 years of age, an official withdrawal from the last school attended must also be presented at registration.
