Floy Burke Saxon, 98, died January 15

Floy Burke Saxon, 98, widow of her husband of 63 years, Joseph B. Saxon, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008.

Her funeral was held 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Dry Branch Baptist Church with the Revs. Ray Freeman and Mike Dann officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Saxon was born in Screven County Aug. 12, 1909. She was a homemaker, and she was the oldest living member of Dry Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include her five daughters, Doris Saxon (Paul) Rhodes of Millen, Jackie Saxon (Earl) Heath of Aiken, S.C., Velma Saxon (Willard) Joyner of Lincolnton, Thelma Saxon (Phil) Jeselnik Hunt of Dunlap, Tenn. and Faye Saxon (Jerry) Skinner of Augusta; two nephews and a niece that she called her children, Jack Burke, Earl Burke and Louise Smart; 19 grandchildren; 40 greatgrandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.
