Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I am not the kind of person to voice my opinions or ideas in public. However, when I arrived at our church on Saturday, Jan. 19, for the Upward Basketball game and was told that we had a robbery at the church, it made me mad. For those of you who know me, you know I don't get mad very easily. When I was told that someone came into our church and stole some things I felt violated, mad and (was) wondering who could have done such a thing as to go into a church - God's house - and steal. When you steal from a church, you're stealing from God. And He will get you. His wrath is far worse than any court in this county, state or United States. He will get you.

The Bible says in Psalm 7:3- 5, "O Lord my God, if I have done this: if there is iniquity in my hands, if I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, or have plundered my enemy without cause, let the enemy pursue me and overtake me; yes, let him trample my life to the earth, and lay my honor in the dust."

Verse 8 says, "The Lord shall judge the peoples; judge me, o Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity within me." Again, God will judge us all and pour out judgment accordingly. He will get you.

Verse 11: "God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day."

I know this letter won't get our things back, but I hope it will have at least one result. I pray that it will deter others from going into God's house to steal or vandalize, and I also pray that whoever stole from our church, that they will ask God for forgiveness. If not, I pray that God will have mercy on your soul.

Dear Editor,

On Saturday, Jan. 26, I worked in the concession stand for the ROTC Competition at our high school. I couldn't have been more pleased to be in the company of such a large group of young adults! There was representation from approximately 10 high schools, and as a group, they were flawless in their uniforms, their manners, their behavior and their activities. It was such a pleasure to be among that many teenagers and have them all focused and aware of what they stood for. The excellent leadership provided by the instructors, Kenneth Wade and Hayward Thompson, was obvious. I commend all of the participants and especially our two local ROTC leaders and their group of students. All of Jenkins County and our high school obviously have an ROTC program to be proud of. I hope that if there is another competition held here many more people will attend. It was a day well spent.
