Sheriff attends meeting with state officials
      On Monday, Jan. 14, Jenkins County Sheriff Tim Fields attended a meeting with members of the Georgia Sheriffs' Association and state officials, held at the State Capitol. It was the opening day for the legislature for 2008.

City amends budget

      During a called meeting held Wednesday, Jan. 23, Millen City Council approved an amendment to the city's 2007-2008 budget to include expenses associated with sanitation, water, waste water and gas funds. The amendment brings the approved budget to approximately $3.5 million.
