Deputies nab Florida fugitive

A man wanted in Orange County Florida on charges of trafficking cocaine and by federal marshals for federal parole violations was arrested in Jenkins County last week.
Sonny Lee Thornton, a.k.a. Spoon Thornton, 34, of Orlando, Fla. was arrested between Williams and Newton Ag roads by deputies of the Jenkins County Sheriff's Department on Friday, Jan. 25.
Acting on information provided to Jenkins County Sheriff Tim Fields by confidential informants in the Williams Road area, the arrest was made just after midnight with a large amount of cash and a stolen firearm being found in Thornton's possession.
He will be charged locally for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving stolen property, criminal trespass, gambling, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a pistol without a license, giving false information to a law enforcement officer and driving without a license on person.
Sheriff Fields has also initiated the process to confiscate all cash seized during the arrest.
