James "J.B." Bargeron, died after a long illness James B. "J.B." Bargeron died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 at Bryan County Health and Rehab in Richmond Hill after a long illness. Funeral services were held 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Midway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Douglas Walker officiating. Burial was in Dorchester Cemetery. Mr. Bargeron was a native of Burke County and a graduate of Martha Berry Schools in Rome. He was the first manager of Planters Electric Membership Corp. in Burke County, and had lived the past 62 years in Liberty County. He was a retired general manager of Coastal Electric Membership in Midway and was a WWII veteran. He was a charter councilman of the City of Midway, an emeritus member of Bryan Masonic Lodge #303 and a member of Midway Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Bargeron. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James B. Jr. and Dee Bargeron of Midway; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Reid Sayre of Raleigh, N.C., Carol George of Mobile, Ala. and Jean and Bob Bender of Atlanta; a sister, Eloise Phillips of South Carolina; eight grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews including Gloria Bargeron, Mell Bargeron and Marie Smith.
