Social Security rep visits Millen A Social Security representative will be at the Jenkins County Health Department 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19. The Social Security Administration, Swainsboro, announces the public may call toll-free 1(800) 772-1213 weekdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. to ask questions or to file a claim. The hearing-impaired may call 1(800) 325-0778. Claims may also be filed through the Internet at www.ssa.gov. The Swainsboro Social Security Office is located at 106 Pierce Avenue. The office is open 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Contact Social Security three months before you plan to retire or reach age 65. Call the office to schedule an appointment or to file a claim. Note that proof of age, proof of citizenship, tax return or W-2 forms, proof of active military service, social security card and identification must be presented. For SSI, also bring proof of income and proof of the things you own. You must furnish proof of age and identity when applying for a new or duplicate social security card. New changes in the law require that you present your marriage license application, as well as the marriage certificate, when requesting a change in name.
